Hudson
Our Joyful, Brilliant, and Unstoppable Boy
Meet Hudson—our bright, energetic, and joyful four-year-old who has brought more love and light into our family than we ever imagined possible. He was the missing piece that made our family whole.
From the start, I noticed subtle differences between Hudson and his older sister when she was a newborn. While she would lock eyes with me and hold my gaze, Hudson tended to avert his eyes when I looked at him. It was small at first—just one of those things you tuck away in the back of your mind. But as he grew, those subtle differences became a little more noticeable.
We began seeing small ways Hudson interacted with the world differently from his peers. His movements, his play style, the way he engaged with people around him—it all pointed to the fact that his mind worked in its own unique and wonderful way.
As parents, our goal was simple: understand him better so we could support him fully. We wanted to meet him exactly where he was, with the tools and love he needed to thrive.
At just 20 months old, Hudson was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder. While the diagnosis was a big moment for us, it didn’t change how we felt about Hudson—not one bit. He was still the same sweet, funny, and vibrant boy we’d loved from day one. What the diagnosis did give us was clarity—it opened doors to new resources, therapies, and support systems that could help Hudson grow into the best version of himself.
Today, Hudson receives 17 hours of therapy a week, and the progress he’s made has been nothing short of amazing. He recently finished Pre-K and is now getting ready to start Kindergarten this fall—a milestone that fills our hearts with both pride and gratitude.
Academically, Hudson is a star. He has a passion for reading and math—in fact, he can solve math problems that sometimes send me reaching for a calculator! His mind is sharp, curious, and full of potential.
Outside the classroom, Hudson continues to thrive. He just wrapped up his first successful soccer season, learning teamwork, coordination, and of course—having fun! On top of that, he now takes weekly Ninja Warrior classes, where he gets to climb, jump, and conquer obstacle courses with a determination that’s so uniquely Hudson.
Through this journey, we as a family have learned so much about diversity, inclusion, and celebrating neurodiversity. Hudson has taught us to slow down, to look at the world through a different lens, and to find joy in every little victory.
Our greatest hope for Hudson is simple: that as he grows, he’s surrounded by kind, loving, and inclusive people who see him for the incredible person he is. We pray that his teachers, friends, and community continue to embrace him with the same love and acceptance we feel for him every day.
Hudson’s story is just beginning—and we couldn’t be more excited to see where his journey takes him next.
