At age two, Peter had a stroke and was later diagnosed with Leigh’s disease, a rare neurological disorder. Leigh's disease slowly takes away strength, mobility, and independence. After more strokes, Peter now uses a wheelchair.

Despite challenges, Peter stays focused and motivated. He dreams of becoming a police officer and encourages those around him with determination, courage, and kindness.

Now that Peter is almost a teenager, he wants what every young person deserves: independence. His home doesn’t fully support his needs, but together, we can change that. We are building a wheelchair-accessible bathroom for Peter. This will let him safely and comfortably manage daily routines, along with a dream bedroom designed just for him.

His new space will reflect what he loves, like Star Wars and the pull of the dark side. The room will feel exciting, personal, and truly his. Designed for mobility and comfort, it will let Peter move more easily, have more privacy, and grow in confidence and independence.

This project is about more than accessibility. It’s about giving Peter a place to truly be a teenager, dream big, and thrive. Your donation will help Peter do everyday things on his own. He’ll be able to get ready for school, enjoy his favorite hobbies, and have friends over in a space that feels safe and welcoming. Now in her sixties, Michele continues to care for Lizzie on her own. But as the years go on, one daily task has become increasingly unsafe: bathing.
