Sunshine on a Ranney Day is a Georgia-based nonprofit dedicated to transforming the lives of children with special needs through custom home renovations. Their work creates safe, accessible, and joy-filled spaces tailored to each child’s unique needs, allowing them greater independence, comfort, and the ability to simply be a kid.
Beyond the physical transformation, Sunshine on a Ranney Day provides something deeper for families: relief, dignity, and the feeling of being truly seen and supported. Through a powerful network of donors, volunteers, and partners, they turn overwhelming challenges into moments of hope, reminding families that they are not alone on this journey.

Meet Sunshine-Kid, Lizzie:
Born with Spina Bifida, Lizzie is blind, deaf, and requires full-time hands-on care. She was adopted as an infant by Michele, a former nurse who chose her without hesitation and has cared for her ever since.
Now in her sixties, Michele continues to care for Lizzie on her own. But as the years go on, one daily task has become increasingly unsafe: bathing.
Sunshine on a Ranney Day is currently searching for a donor sponsor to help make Lizzie’s fully accessible bathroom renovation possible. This space would not only provide safer daily care for Lizzie but would also help reduce the physical strain placed on Michele as her sole caregiver.
This renovation would create:
A safer bathing space with accessible supportive features
Reduced dangerous lifting and physical strain
A calming sensory-friendly environment filled with music
Greater comfort, dignity, and peace for both Lizzie and Michele
