Our Mighty, Quirky Little Hero

From the very start, Rowen has been writing his own unique story—and let me tell you, it’s one worth celebrating. Born early at just 4 lbs 10 oz, this tiny fighter came into the world ready to take on challenges that most kids never face. His journey began with developmental delays, g-tube feedings, doctor visits on repeat, and more types of therapy than we can count. But through it all, Rowen has met every hurdle with quiet strength and a spark all his own.

In time, we learned that Rowen has not one, but three rare genetic mutations—pieces of the puzzle that help explain his beautifully different way of growing and learning. And just before his fourth birthday, in the summer of 2024, we added one more piece to the mix: a diagnosis of Autism.

Was it part of the original plan? Nope. But after some gentle nudging from his incredible daycare team and the unwavering support of our family, we leaned in. Because the truth is, that diagnosis didn’t change who Rowen is. It gave us a better roadmap to support him—and that’s what really matters.

Thanks to his powerhouse ABA therapy team, Rowen has blossomed this past year in ways we never imagined. He’s now headed into Kindergarten—yes, we’re crying happy tears over IEPs and special needs programs—and we are so proud of his growth.

And let’s talk about what lights him up: Rowen is all about Spiderman, Baby Shark, and Sonic the Hedgehog. He’s got a soft spot for science (volcanoes, floods, tornados—you name it) and his little math brain is already showing off skills beyond his years. He surprises us daily with his questions, his knowledge, and his sweet old-soul spirit.

Rowen’s path may look a little different, but we wouldn’t have it any other way. Every step, every word, every smile is a victory. He’s our sweet, quirky “little old man”—and to us, he’s a superhero.
